Pacer Continues Shakeup With Executive Changes

Pacer International Inc. continued its management changeover by appointing a new executive vice president and revising the duties of two other executives.

In the latest announcement, Mike Clark has been appointed executive vice president of capacity planning and will join Pacer next month. His role will be to supervise brokerage and supply businesses and to coordinate Pacer’s efforts to secure rail, truck, ocean and airfreight capacity.

Two months ago, Pacer announced that it was replacing its chief operating officer, chief financial officer and its top human resources official. Four more top executives are leaving the company in the coming months, according to the announcement on June 3.

All of the changes have been made since Dan Avramovich took over as chief executive officer of Pacer six months ago. He assumed the top post when Michael Uremovich retired in December.

Clark comes to Pacer from Panther Expedited Services, Seville, Ohio, where he was executive vice president. Previously, he worked for Exel Inc., FedEx and other transportation companies.

Clark replaces Peter Mettra, executive vice president of transportation procurement. Peter Baumhefner, executive vice president of operations also is leaving, along with Joe Doherty, executive vice president of investor relations and treasurer. The other departing manager is Doug Matthew, who also is an executive vice president.

Val Noel, executive vice president of street operations, has the new role of executive vice president of field operations, in charge of all intermodal and related operations services.

The other reassignment was for Bob Sloan, who is taking on the vice president of yield and network management position. He was vice president of yield management.
