Orange EV Yard Trucks Surpass 3 Million Miles of Usage

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Orange EV announced several milestones achieved for its yard trucks: 3 million miles of usage, 1 million hours of operation, and an average uptime of 97% for trucks built since 2018 and 99% for trucks built since 2020.

Uptime for diesel-powered yard trucks is often within the 75-80% range, according to the Kansas City, Mo.-based company.

Yard trucks also generally operate within the confines of a facility’s freight-cargo yard, moving containers short distances at speeds in the range of 5-25 mph. Surpassing 3 million EV miles is a significant accomplishment given the slow-speed, stop-start nature of yard truck operation, the company said.
