The national diesel price average recorded its biggest drop of the year this week, after the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries agreed to boost oil production by some 1.7 million barrels a day.
The federal Energy Information Administration reported that the weekly national average price fell 2.8 cents, to $1.451 a gallon, on March 27, a 10-week low. It was the second consecutive downturn in the price, which stood at $1.479 the previous week and a record high of $1.496 on March 13.
The previous week-to-week drop occurred two months ago, when the price hit $1.456 a gallon for two weeks after falling from $1.47 on Feb. 7.
EIA reported that the average diesel prices fell in every region except the Rocky Mountains, which saw a rise of 0.002 cents a gallon.
