Oil rose nearly $2 from a two-week low Monday following signs that U.S. lawmakers were close to an agreement to raise America’s debt ceiling, Bloomberg reported.

Crude futures rose $1.85 to $97.55 a barrel in pre-market New York Mercantile Exchange trading, Bloomberg reported.

Oil had finished the trading week Friday at $95.70 a barrel, the lowest closing price since July 14.

Diesel and gasoline pump prices have both risen the past several weeks; the Department of Energy will release its weekly survey of filling stations Monday afternoon in Washington.
