Ohio Trucking Exec Tom King Dies
Robert T. “Tom” King, executive vice president of the Ohio Trucking Association, died in his sleep Dec. 13 at his home in Worthington, Ohio. The cause of death was not immediately known. He was 52.
Originally from Meigs County, Ohio, Mr. King was a graduate of Ohio University, where he majored in journalism.
Mr. King was a 19-year member of the Ohio Society of Association Executives, serving as the organization’s president in 1997. He was also an active member of American Trucking Associations’ Trucking Association Executive Council.

Mr. King joined OTA in 1980 as director of governmental affairs. Before that he served as assistant to the director of the Ohio Manufactured Housing Association.
Mr. King was named executive vice president of OTA in 1992, succeeding Donald B. Smith.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Wendy; two sons, Nicholas and Russell; father Robert V. King; brother Tim “Edie” King; sister, Carol “Darrell” Brewer; nieces, Liberty King and Stacey Brewer; and nephew, T.J. King.
