NTSB Adds EOBRs to ‘Most Wanted’ List

The National Transportation Safety Board has added mandatory use of electronic onboard recorders to its annual list of “most wanted” safety reforms.

The board said it was adding EOBRs to its list for the first time because Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s proposal “is not applicable to all operators subject to hours of service.”

FMCSA has said it intends to finalize its proposed rule before the end of the Bush administration, but has yet to send it to the White House for final review.
