Navistar Increases Truck Prices $6,000 to $8,000 for 2010 Engines

Navistar said that its exhaust gas recirculation technology will increase International truck prices by up to $8,000 for the 2010 model year.

Depending on the specific engine model a truck uses, prices will be $6,000 or $8,000 higher due to compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency's emissions standards, which go into effect January 1.

For mid-range diesel engines such as MaxxForce 7, MaxxForce DT, MaxxForce 9 and MaxxForce 10, prices will increase $6,000, Navistar said in a statement Tuesday.

For heavy-duty engines such as MaxxForce 11 and MaxxForce 13, prices will increase $8,000.

Navistar is the only truck maker to use EGR to comply with 2010 rules. The truck and engine maker said last month that it had completed fiel tests on the new engines.
