Natso to Discuss Issues in Nashville

Natso Inc., a national organization representing truck stop and travel plaza operators, meets Feb. 3 to 5 in Nashville, Tenn. to hammer out its legislative priorities and educate members about issues confronting the $36 billion industry.

Some 2,000 attendees are expected to participate in the event. A major attraction will be Natso University, which is the association’s agenda of technology, business and employee management seminars, according to Lisa Mullings, Natso’s vice president of communications.

The organization also will hold policy meetings and host an exposition. Natso has recruited 300 exhibitors, representing the spectrum of truck stop suppliers, including, fuel card companies, repair-related services, and food and beverage sellers.

Chief among the legislative issues is truck parking. Natso opposes using public money to build additional parking space for big rigs at rest areas. “If the federal government determines more parking is needed, it should look to the private sector for solutions,” Natso said.
