urface trade among the United States, Canada and Mexico was 10.2% higher in 2005 than 2004, the Department of Transportation said Tuesday.

Imports by rail rose 4.2% to $81.4 billion, while exports gained 16% to $35.1 billion.

Pipeline imports jumped 32.4% to $48.8 billion, while exports rose 75.7% to $2.9 billion, DOT said.
