In unveiling his proposed 2000 budget, McCormick said it would help ATA become the "lean advocacy machine" members have asked for as part of the group's ongoing reorganization.

As part of the dues cut, ATA will narrow its focus to major national legislative and advocacy initiatives, and leave most state and regional issues to be handled or financed by state associations, motor carriers and suppliers.

The 2000 dues reduction will be provided as a credit against 2001 dues.
