Manitoulin Acquires Can-Tran in Bid to Expand in Western Canada

Looking to expand further in western Canada, Manitoulin Global Forwarding, Mississauga, Ontario, said it has acquired Can-Tran International, Leduc, Alberta.

Terms were not disclosed in Manitoulin’s announcement earlier this month.

Can-Tran provides forwarding, customs brokerage, ground transport and warehousing to the oil and gas industry.

All employees of Can-Tran, which also specializes in moving drilling rigs, will keep their jobs, Manitoulin said.

“Can-Tran is a natural fit for us,” Manitoulin Global President Dwayne Hihn said in the statement.

It’s the second acquisition of a western Canadian freight forwarder by Manitoulin this year.

In May, the logistics company purchased Beler International of Regina, Saskatchewan.
