SAN DIEGO — Country music superstar Luke Bryan and award-winning duo Maddie & Tae were the surprise entertainment at the 2019 Freightliner Trucks customer appreciation event.

The private concert for trucking executives was held at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres.

Daimler Trucks North America, the manufacturer of Freightliner and Western Star trucks and Detroit engines and components, hosted the annual event on Oct. 7 during American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition.

As in years past, the identity of the evening’s performers was a closely guarded secret until they were introduced to the stage by DTNA CEO Roger Nielsen and Richard Howard, senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Bryan, who wore an “I Love Trucks” button on stage, capped off the event with performances of favorites such as “What Makes You Country,” “Kick the Dust Up,” “Country Girl (Shake It for Me)” and “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”

Maddie & Tae opened the evening’s entertainment doubleheader with a set that included hits like “Fly” and “Girl in a Country Song.”

The country music duo of Madison Marlow and Taylor Dye is currently touring with Carrie Underwood, who performed at last year’s Freightliner customer appreciation event in Austin, Texas.

Other artists who have appeared at the annual Freightliner dinner in recent years include the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, the Eagles, Rod Stewart, Florida Georgia Line and Jason Aldean.
