LTL Carriers Delivering New Upscale Services

People with large incomes usually do not want to settle for small packages. They want big screen televisions, elaborate home office systems, complicated exercise machines and sprawling furniture.

Since parcel couriers and the U.S. Postal Service cannot deal with such unwieldy items, these well-heeled consumers are turning to less-than-truckload carriers to deliver and set up their prized possessions in their homes.

“If you buy a baseball card off of eBay, you know how to ship it. But what if you buy a motorcycle?” asked Bob Davidson, a vice president of ABF Freight System (ABFS) in Fort Smith, Ark. He said his company offers a service called TurnKey, which does more than just drop a large crate on a customer’s sidewalk.
