Letter to the Editor: Fuel Prices
he other day, a passenger in my vehicle saw a gas station selling regular unleaded for $1.82 per gallon and remarked “Wow, that’s pretty good!” Compared to what? We have all seen this type of price manipulation before, but probably not on the grand scale taking place now.
The oil companies will get us so accustomed to paying around $2.00 per gallon that we will just be delighted when the price levels out at their planned target price, probably about $1.85.
hat has happened to the $1.45 per gallon that we saw at this time last year? What has happened that can possibly justify such a price increase?
Have you heard the morning disc jockey clowns downplaying the issue by comparing the cost of a gallon of gasoline to a gallon of milk, perfume, sunscreen, etc.? What is their point? When was the last time you used 10 gallons of perfume commuting to your job?
Here again, let’s downplay it. Let’s get used to it. After all, they pay much more in Europe.
Didn’t American taxpayers spend billions of dollars on the Gulf War a few years back to liberate Kuwait? You would think that out of pure gratitude they would be shipping tanker after tanker to us for free just to say thanks.
ut then again, that wouldn’t be in the best interest of the big boys, would it?
