Import Prices Rise in January, Labor Reports

he price of imported goods rose 1.3% in January, but just 0.2% excluding oil prices, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Meanwhile, prices for U.S. goods exported to other countries rose 0.7%, following a 0.1% rise in December.

Imported oil alone rose 6.4% in January, and import prices were expected to rise 1%, Bloomberg reported.



Prices for all imported goods were 8.8% higher than a year earlier, Labor said.
