I-40 Reopens in Okla. Following Weekend Tornadoes

Interstate 40 reopened in Oklahoma Monday after damage from weekend tornadoes, including to several big rigs, closed I-40 near Shawnee, Okla., the Associated Press reported.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reopened westbound I-40 at U.S. 177 in Shawnee, but said drivers should expect delays as crews continued cleanup work, AP reported.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation reported that northbound U.S. 177 at I-40 was reopened as of 7 a.m. Monday, AP said.

More bad weather was expected to continue throughout the Plains and Midwest, with a tornado touching down in Golden City, Mo., early Monday, CNN reported, citing local officials.

The weekend tornadoes, which killed at least one person in Oklahoma, followed last week’s twisters in Texas, which killed six, USA Today reported.
