House Panel Sets Public-Private Partnership Roundtable for April 30

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Panel on Public-Private Partnerships has set an April 30 roundtable hearing to examine how states have applied “P3” set ups to fund infrastructure projects.

There are 33 states and one territory with legislation authorizing the use of P3s for transportation projects. Such legislation varies, including the types of projects allowed, the governance structures, and the degree of project-by-project legislative approval, according to the committee.

The placement of P3 staff within the states varies considerably. Some states have created separate offices, while others operate within the states’ transportation departments.

P3 panel Chairman John Duncan (R-Tenn.) said information gathered at the roundtable will be used in the crafting of long-term transportation policy, such as the reauthorization of the 2012 MAP-21 highway law.
