Groups Seek More Hours Hearings
Two industry groups, representing truckers and their inspectors, asked the federal government to allow more time to respond to proposed changes in the hours of service for commercial drivers.
American Trucking Associations and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance requested that Department of Transportation extend the comment period beyond the current July 31 deadline to Oct. 27.
The organizations also called for a hearing in New Orleans between Aug. 7 and 12, when and truck drivers and safety inspectors will gather for the National Truck Driving Championships and the North American Inspectors Championship.
