Gasoline Average Jumps 24 cents to $2.91, Lundberg Reports

he average national price of self-serve regular gasoline jumped 24 cents to $2.91 a gallon in the two weeks ended Friday, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.

Mid-grade and premium also rose 24 cents each, to $3 and $3.10 per gallon, respectively, analyst Trilby Lundberg said in her semimonthly report.

Crude oil prices shot to new records last week, closing on the New York Mercantile Exchange above $70 for the first time last Monday and finishing the week at $75.17 a barrel, Bloomberg reported. (Click here for previous coverage.)



The lowest average price in the country for regular unleaded was in Boise, Idaho, at $2.54 a gallon; the highest was in San Diego, at $3.12 a gallon.

The Energy Department will release its weekly survey of gasoline and diesel fuel retail prices Monday afternoon.
