Regular gasoline’s national average rose 3.8 cents over the past three weeks, to $2.85 a gallon, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of fuel prices released Sunday.

The latest twice-monthly survey showed gas is now 80 cents higher than the same week last year. Mid-grade averaged $2.98, while premium averaged $3.09, Lundberg said.

Crude oil prices have spiked over the past few weeks, jumping to more than $85 last week for the first time in almost a year and a half.

The lowest price was measured in Newark, N.J., at $2.64 per gallon, while Honolulu was the highest, at $3.43.
