FMCSA to Grant Cross-Border Authority to 13th Mexican Carrier

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said it plans to grant a 13th Mexican motor carrier operating authority to carry loads beyond the 25-mile free trade zone.

The agency plasn to approve Sergio Tristan Maldonado, doing business as Tristan Transfer, to participate in the cross-border program.

FMCSA rejected concerns raised by the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety that the Mexican carrier may have failed to disclose an affiliation with another Mexican carrier and that Sergio Tristan had no Safety Measurement System scores.

“The SMS scores for this carrier do not exist because it is a new company,” the agency said.
