FMCSA Appoints Board to Oversee UCR Agreement
he Federal Motor Carrier Association has appointed a 15-member board of directors to issue rules and regulations governing the universal carrier registration agreement.
The UCR agreement replaces the single state registration system, which is set to expire Jan. 1. The SSRS is a state-administered registration program covering for-hire motor carriers.
The initial appointments to the board are effective starting June 1. Its representatives include five members from FMCSA and its regional offices, five from state regional offices and five from trucking industry.
• Robert Pitcher, vice president, state laws, American Trucking Associations;
• Robert Voltmann, president, Transportation Intermediaries Association;
• Rick Craig, treasurer and director of regulatory affairs, Owner-Operator and Independent Driver Association;
• Richard Schweitzer, general counsel, National Private Truck Council; and
• Craig Sharkey, associate general counsel, logistics, Wal-Mart Stores.
FMCSA issued the notice in the May 12 Federal Register.
