Florida Sets Plan to Limit Emissions

Standards Would be Similar to California’s

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) said is set to sign an order that would match California’s standards for greenhouse gas emissions from automobiles, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

Crist’s plan would match California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (R) of slashing the state's greenhouse gas emissions to 20% of 1990 levels by 2050, in line with targets that many scientists say are necessary to curb global warming, the paper reported in a front-page business section story.

The plan would also raise energy conservation standards for new buildings and require utilities to produce 20% of their electricity from renewable sources.
