First-Quarter Intermodal Movement Rises 6.3%

ntermodal growth rose 6.3% in the first quarter, marking the 16th straight quarter of growth, the Intermodal Association of North America said late Thursday.

Domestic volume rose 4.4%, following the fourth-quarter’s 1.3% gain, IANA said.

Most of the growth was in containers, which rose 8.4%, while trailers declined by 0.3%.

The pace of growth in international showed a minor decrease from the fourth quarter, the group said.
