FedEx Expands Air Fleet in China

FedEx Corp. is expanding its air fleet in China because that country will lead a global rebound in air cargo traffic, Bloomberg reported.

David Cunningham Jr., president of FedEx Express Asia Pacific, said Thursday the firm was adding its first Boeing Co. 777 freighter plane to be based in Shanghai.

FedEx plans to have four such aircraft serving routes between Asia and the United States by April, Bloomberg said.

“We’re beginning to see exports grow and the industrial companies begin to grow,” Cunningham told Bloomberg. “Asia has clearly been a leader of growth, and a big piece of that is from China.”

FedEx Corp. is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
