Entry-Level Driver Training Rule Proposal Clears OMB

The White House Office of Management and Budget has completed its review of a proposed entry-level driver training rule.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration driver training proposal, cleared by OMB on Feb. 18, will adopt new standards for mandatory training requirements for entry-level operators of commercial motor vehicles.

Earlier this month, OMB cleared an advance notice of proposed rulemaking seeking information concerning the prevalence of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea among individuals occupying safety sensitive positions in rail and highway transportation. That proposal also would request information about the potential economic impact and safety benefits for transportation workers with multiple sleep apnea risk factors.
