E-Manifests Required in Maine, Minnesota

Truckers are now required to electronically submit manifests detailing cargo and carrier information to U.S. Customs and Border Protection prior to arrival at Maine and Minnesota land border ports of entry, the agency said.

During the initial enforcement phase, CBP will use discretion by issuing “informed compliance” notices to carriers that arrive without submitting or attempting to submit an e-manifest.

After Jan. 16, CBP will deny violators a permit to proceed and could issue penalties of up to $10,000.
