Dunn Resubmits Bill to Repeal Estate Tax

WASHINGTON — Hoping for a better reception at the Bush White House than she got from the Clinton administration, Rep. Jennifer Dunn (R-Wash.) earlier this week reintroduced her bill to repeal the estate tax.

President Bush, who is pushing for a massive, across-the-board tax cut, has promised to sign an estate tax repeal if Congress passes it, Dunn said.

Congress approved similar legislation last year but then-President Clinton vetoed the bill and Congress failed to override his veto.

Last year, “we ran into a huge obstacle, one that we could not overcome and that was the veto,” Dunn said at a press conference Jan. 31.
