DOT, EPA Officials Tour Truck Dealerships

Officials from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation recently toured three commercial truck dealerships to learn more about the industry and the cost of regulatory actions on dealers, American Truck Dealers said.

ATD Chairman Eric Jorgensen, who hosted one of the visits, told EPA officials that 2004-2010 emission changes had an adverse effect on dealership service departments and the sales of new trucks.

“Because of higher costs from regulations, our customers overhauled high-mileage trucks and purchased pre-owned trucks with old technology instead of buying new, efficient trucks,” Jorgensen said in a statement.
