Diesel Rises 1.9¢ to $3.971 in First Gain in Six Weeks; Gasoline Continues to Climb
Diesel rose 1.9 cents to $3.971 a gallon, its first increase in six weeks, while gasoline rose for the 11th straight week, the Department of Energy reported.
Gasoline gained 3.2 cents to $3.683 a gallon, has jumped 39 cents since the beginning of February, DOE said after its April 21 survey of filling stations.
The diesel increase was the first since it rose a half-cent to reach $4.021 on March 10, its highest pump price in almost a year.
Trucking’s main fuel is 8.4 cents higher than the same week last year, while gas is 14.7 cents higher than a year ago, according to DOE records.
Each week, DOE surveys about 400 diesel filling stations and 800 gasoline stations to compile national average prices.
