Diesel Price Gains 0.8 Cent to $2.926 a Gallon

he average national price of retail diesel fuel rose 2 cents to $2.946 a gallon, the Department of Energy said Monday.

Meanwhile, gasoline rose 1.4 cents from last week to $2.973, up 71.4 cents from a year ago.

Diesel prices have risen 60.4 cents from one year ago and gained 50.4 cents since Jan. 2, according to DOE figures.



Crude oil futures, closed at $75.05 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange on Monday, up 62 cents on worries that there will be no immediate ceasefire in the conflict between Israeli and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon, Bloomberg reported.

Regional diesel averages rose in four of the five national regions, declining only in the West Coast region. The diesel average in California, which DOE breaks out separately, remained unchanged from last week’s level of $3.097.

In the Midwest, diesel rose 2 cents to $2.951. The Gulf Coast jumped 2.7 cents to $2.895, the East Coast gained 2.9 cents to $2.925 and the Rocky Mountains climbed to $2.987, up 2.7 cents from last week.

Prices in the West Coast region slipped 0.4 cent to $3.047.

Each week, DOE surveys 350 diesel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
