Details Added to ELD Workshops at GATS on Aug. 24, 26

Federal trucking regulators will be in Dallas Aug. 24-26 to hear from drivers about concerns they may have regarding the Dec. 18 implementation of electronic logging devices.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration officials, who will operate a booth at the Great American Trucking Show, are scheduled to host two question-and-answer sessions at the event.

The first session will be held Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. at Truckers News Stage in Hall A. The next session will be held Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. at Overdrive Stage in Hall D. Commercial drivers who are unclear about the ELD mandate are encouraged to attend the FMCSA sessions.

The Q&As in Dallas are part of the agency’s nationwide tour designed to educate carriers and drivers about the mandate.

After Dallas, FMCSA officials will stop at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in Atlanta on Sept. 25-27 to host a session. Then, on Oct. 15 at 2 p.m., agency officials will host a session at the California Trucking Show in Ontario, Calif. That will be followed by a stop at the American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference and Exhibition Oct. 21-24 in Orlando, Fla.

The last stop of the tour will be at the Women in Trucking’s Accelerate! Conference and Expo in Kansas City, Mo., Nov. 6-8.

The agency is requiring carriers to have commercial vehicles equipped with ELDs beginning Dec. 18. The rule aims to improve hours-of-service compliance among drivers.
