Reflecting the organization’s ongoing restructuring, the theme of American Trucking Associations’ annual Management Conference & Exhibition will be “ATA: Look What We’re Building,” President Walter B. McCormick Jr. said this week.
“The basis of the Wren plan is strength in unity, strength in numbers,” McCormick said. “As we continue the work of building our trade association, it is important to stop and acknowledge how far we have come. MC&E will give us a chance to remember where we started, review just how far we have come and look at the challenges that lie ahead. There is a tremendous success story to tell about just what we are building at ATA.”

In addition to legislative, regulatory and other external challenges, ATA is halfway through a 28-month restructuring that began with the August 1998 adoption of a new strategic plan for the 66-year-old association. The plan, which bears the name of ATA Chairman John Wren, calls for the organization to emphasize advocacy and information services.
Educational sessions, speeches and other activities highlighting the accomplishments of the association and the challenges lying ahead will be held throughout the Oct. 31 to Nov. 3 conference, according to McCormick.
