CLM Elects Officers at Meeting

ANAHEIM, Calif.— The Council of Logistics Management elected Kathleen Strange as its president for the 1999 term during its annual conference, held at the Anaheim Convention Center, Oct. 11-14.

Ms. Strange is director of logistics strategy and implementation for Staples Inc., Westborough, Mass. Before joining Staples, she was sourcing leader for global distribution and packaging for GE Plastics, and earlier was vice president of logistics and of community affairs for the Stride Rite Corp.

A 20-year veteran of logistics, Ms. Strange has served on CLM's executive committee since 1995. She was chairman of the annual conference, 1995; secretary and treasurer, 1996; second vice president, 1997 and first vice president, 1998. She is also active in her community and a leader in local education and arts organizations.

Other officers newly elected are: first vice president, Herbert G. Johnson, senior vice president of logistics, Consumer Value Stores, Woonsocket, R.I.; second vice president, John T. Mentzer, professor of logistics, University of Tennessee; and secretary and treasurer Joel Sutherland, president, Envoy Inc., Cincinnati.



Robert E. Bowles, retired director of logistics and supply chain management for PPG Industries, became CLM immediate past president.
