An Oklahoma trucking company owner was sentenced to more than seven years in prison April 11 for conspiracy, fraud, and violations of the Clean Water Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
Federal prosecutors said Mac Dewayne Overholt, owner of Overholt Trucking of Terlton, used his company to transport 500,000 gallons of wastewater from military sites in Kansas and Missouri to Oklahoma, where it was improperly disposed of in injection wells in three counties. Prosecutors said the wastewater from Kansas contained human feces, dead birds, and chlorinated solvents.
Overholt was convicted in October along with Koteswara Attaluri of Overland Park, Kan., and Attaluri's company, Allied Environmental Services (11-15, p. 5).
Attaluri was sentenced to more than five years in prison for his conviction on conspiring to violate clean water and hazardous waste laws and of committing fraud. Allied Environmental Services was placed on probation.
