he Ontario Ministry of Transportation announced Wednesday plans to rebuild Highway 402 near the city of Sarnia, a major border crossing between the United States and Canada.

The effort will include rebuilding eastbound and westbound lanes, repairing two bridges on the highway and three that cross over it, installing new lighting and highway signs and upgrading the Sarnia South Truck Inspection Station, the Ministry of Transportation said.

The Canadian and Ontario provincial governments will jointly fund the rebuilding, which will be completed by Coco Paving Group.

According to Lawrence Cannon, Canada’s Federal Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, 4,900 trucks and C$127 million worth of goods cross the border each day at Sarnia. Sarnia is located about 60 miles north of Detroit.
