avid Bradley, the chief executive officer of the Candaian Trucking Alliance, issued a positive outlook for the trucking industry last week in Ontario at the first annual meeting of the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, CTA said in a statement.

Bradley noted that while rising driver, fuel and equipment costs are driving up transportation costs and pressuring shippers to seek lower freight rates, “there is no fundamental reason for rates to be discounted or for the softness in rates experienced in some markets over the last year to be permanent.”

In his address, Bradley also warned that operating costs for carriers would continue to escalate, while the driver shortage would continue to worsen.

Nevertheless, “trucking will continue to dominate the freight market,” the CTA chief executive said.
