Average Diesel Price Dips 0.2 Cent to $1.502

he average retail price of diesel fuel in the United States declined 0.2 cent per gallon to $1.502, the Department of Energy reported Monday.

Diesel had increased 2.8 cents over the previous three weeks and is currently 1.1 cents higher than the corresponding week a year ago.

DOE also said the average price for regular unleaded gasoline declined 0.7 cent to $1.478 per gallon.



Gasoline, used by about one-third of commercial trucking, has now decreased in 15 of the past 18 weeks and is 3.7 cents higher than a year ago.

Meanwhile, the price of diesel remained stable during the past week, according to DOE figures. The largest decrease was 0.5 cent along the West Coast grouping of states. The current West Coast average price is $1.63.

DOE also said the East Coast and Rocky Mountains each saw its price inch up 0.1 cent. They were the only two of DOE's five major geographic regions to report an increase in diesel prices.
