ATA Chief of Staff Brooks Keeps Federation Focused

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>Being the trucking industry’s advocate in the halls of Congress, the offices of the federal government and the nation’s courts takes a big staff that must be managed and directed every day. In American Trucking Associations, the role of daily management is filled by Steve Brooks, chief of staff to ATA President Bill Graves.

A 36-year-old Coloradan with a background in Republican Party politics, Brooks has day-to-day oversight of the association’s roughly 180 employees, making sure that the organization is focused on implementing its several missions.

“The buck stops here first before going to Gov. Graves,” said Brooks. “Issues boil up to me first because he has a lot to worry about. My mission is to make sure issues are managed correctly and at the appropriate level.”
