Associates Ventures Into E-Commerce

The Associates, the nation’s largest provider of commercial truck and trailer financing, will make its first foray into the world of electronic commerce with the launch of an online marketplace for the sale of used trucks and related services.

TheTruckCenter.com will debut March 23 at the Mid-American Truck Show in Louisville, Ky., company officials announced last week.

The new site is a collaborative effort between Associates First Capital Corp. of Dallas and Entrade Inc., a Northfield, Ill.-based company that specializes in creating business-to-business electronic marketplaces.

“TheTruckCenter.com is a key element in our e-commerce strategy,” said Douglas C. Spencer, executive vice president for the Associates Transportation Group.
