APX Logistics Files for Bankruptcy, Truckload Carrier Says

Third-party logistics provider APX Logistics Inc. has filed for bankruptcy protection, according to financial documents filed by Werner Enterprises Thursday.

Werner, an Omaha, Neb.-based truckload company, said that APX, a customer since 1989 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in California.

APX, headquartered in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., owes Werner "$7.2 million in accounts receivable for freight shipments," according to the truckload carrier’s 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Werner said it suspended freight shipments for APX effective March 15.



APX, No. 37 on Transport Topics list of the 50 largest logistics companies, claims to be the largest package shipping partner of the U.S. Postal Service. According to its Web site, the company owns more than 400 trucks and employs more than 1,800 workers.

Werner is ranked No. 19 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
