Professional Transportation Group Ltd., Inc. Announces That Majority Shareholder Sells Entire Interest to Logistics Management, L.L.C.

Professional Transportation Group CEO and President Dennis A. Bakal has sold his majority share in the company to Kentucky-based Logistics Management.

Bakal, along with PTG Vice President Linda K. Roberts and Chief Financial Officer Susan P. Dial, will leave PTG's board of directors, to be replaced by Logistics principals Danny L. Pixler and W. Anthony Huff, in addition to Jonathan Pollon. Bakal cited his health troubles and the difficulty of turning PTG around after its deal with Carpet Transport.

Pixler said talks with PTG main credit facility lender SouthTrust Bank "went well, and we believe that we will be able to come to an agreement with SouthTrust that will allow us to more quickly get into PTG's operations. As a result, we intend to terminate PTG's recently announced relationship with Allied Carriers." PR Newswire (12/07/99)

Consolidated Delivery & Logistics, Inc. and Dispatch Management Services Corp. Announce Discussions Regarding Merger

Consolidated Delivery & Logistics and Dispatch Management Services have entered talks on a potential merger. DMS Chairman and CEO H. Steve Swink and CD&L Chairman and CEO Albert W. Van Ness said such a merger would put the combined entity on the road to the top of the same-day delivery business and position the combined entity to provide same-day, time-critical service to the expanding e-commerce industry. Together, the companies have roughly $450 million in yearly revenues. PR Newswire (12/06/99)

Truckers Go The Extra Mile for Charity Good Fellows

Continuing an annual tradition dating back more than twenty years, the Nebraska Trucking Association raised money for charity via an auction and raffle at the association's holiday party. The $18,632 raised will be divided among the Omaha World-Herald Good Fellows program, the Lincoln Food Bank, and three local Habitat for Humanity organizations around the state. Truckers Meet; Labor-Code Changes Sought

The Confederation of National Trade Unions again urged that Quebec let truck drivers unionize and that trucker-related labor rules at the federal and provincial level be harmonized. The CNTU's call came as the provincial government-ordered meetings about trucking came to a close. A proposal to the Labor and Transport ministers will be forthcoming from representatives from the meetings.

Unlike truckers who operate only within the province, truckers who operate across provincial lines come under the purview of federal labor rules, under which independents have more ability to unionize. Montreal Gazette (12/06/99) P. A9
