Used Class 8 truck sales ended a run of five months of year-over-year gains in November. ACT Research reported volume slipped 1.5% to 20,400 units from 20,700 in the 2024 period.

Sales increased 3.8% to 24,700 units from 23,800 in the 2024 period and 9.3% from 22,600 in September, according to ACT Research data.

"August did not disappoint this year, at least from a unit volume perspective. Industry participants should interpret this as a positive sign," ACT Research Vice President Steve Tam says.

Used Class 8 truck sales declined year over year in February with market uncertainty making it difficult to predict whether to invest in equipment, ACT Research reported.

Used Class 8 truck sales in December increased 11.3% year over year and 4.8% from November's level, according to ACT Research.

August saw a return to a relatively steep depreciation in the price of used Class 8 trucks, according to J.D. Power's  Chris Visser, although some of the details are yet to fully materialize.

The average retail price for a used Class 8 vehicle in December forged ahead to another monthly record as it cleared $82,000. That was 66% higher compared with a year earlier, ACT Research reported.

U.S. consumer prices rose slightly in September, led again by sharp increases in the index for used vehicles.

Sales of used Class 8 trucks in January fell compared with a year ago, but the average heavy-duty truck brought 10% more money as customer demand remained strong amid a shortage of trucks, ACT Research Co. reported.

The sale price of the average Class 8 used truck jumped 13% in September amid ongoing demand for trucks in a market where freight is plentiful and capacity is tight, ACT Research Co. reported.
