Uncertainty is mounting across global supply chains due to President Donald Trump’s changing tariff policies and the conflict in the Middle East, port Executive Director Gene Seroka said.

The Port of Los Angeles reported its busiest month on record with container volume increasing 8.5% to 1,019,837 20-foot-equivalent units from 939,600 last year.

The Port of Los Angeles processed 801,398 20-foot equivalent units, a 2.5% increase from the 781,434 containers in 2024. This marked the second-busiest February on record for the port.

The Port of Long Beach achieved its busiest November ever by increasing to 884,154 containers from 731,033 last year. This surpasses the previous record for the month set in November 2020.

Facing strong headwinds from the lingering effects of the U.S.-China trade war, the slowdown associated with the Chinese New Year, and later the coronavirus, most of the nation’s ports saw container volumes fall in January.

Port Manatee set records for container volume and cargo tons moved during its recently completed fiscal year, besting marks set in 2010 for both categories.

South Carolina ports topped an 11-year-old record for the 12 months ended June 30 by handling 2.14 million 20-foot-equivalent units of containerized freight.
