If California's Assembly Bill 316 becomes law, driverless trucks won’t be able to drive down state highways without a human driver present until at least 2031.

San Francisco asked California regulators Aug. 16 to halt its approval of Cruise’s and Waymo’s unrestricted commercial expansion in the city, arguing the city “will suffer serious harm.” 

Starting in 2023, Tesla will effectively be banned from advertising its vehicles as Full Self-Driving in California under a new law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
