Yokohama Introduces New Longhaul Drive Tire

Yokohama Tire Corp. launched a new fuel-efficient longhaul drive tire, the TY577 MC2.

Now available in the United States, the SmartWay-verified TY577 MC2 comes in sizes 295/75R22.5, 11R22.5, 285/75R24.5 and 11R24.5, and is offered in 16-ply construction.

The TY577 MC2 combines an ultra-deep tread pattern with Yokohama’s MC2 technology, which minimizes the effects of heat on the casing and tread, providing extreme low rolling resistance to reduce fleets’ cost-per-mile, according to the Santa Ana, Calif.-based company.

Also, the tire has a 30/32-inch deep groove depth, a closed shoulder rib enables more rubber-to-road contact and the stress wear control groove redistributes more load to the outside rib. The design also redirects destructive casing flex, which improves durability and retreading.

Yokohama Tire Corp. is the North American manufacturing and marketing arm of Tokyo-based the Yokohama Rubber Co., a global manufacturing and sales company of premium tires since 1917.
