XPO Finishes Acquisition of Kuehne + Nagel’s European Logistics

XPO Logistics has completed its acquisition of the majority of Swiss firm Kuehne + Nagel’s European logistics, the company announced Jan. 4.

Kuehne + Nagel International AG is based in Feusisberg, Switzerland. XPO acquired its contract logistics operations in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

“We’re pleased to complete the Kuehne + Nagel acquisition and welcome these prestigious new customers and talented colleagues to XPO,” Malcolm Wilson, XPO Logistics CEO for Europe, said in a statement. “We look forward to the new opportunities that have been created by the combined resources of our larger organization.”



XPO said the transaction expands its contract logistics network in the U.K. and Ireland to 248 locations and about 26,000 employees. The acquired operations include logistics services such as inbound and outbound distribution, reverse logistics management and inventory management. Those segments primarily are in the beverage, technology, e-commerce and food services.

XPO ranks No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 50 list of the largest logistics companies in North America and No. 3 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers.
