XPO has completed the expansion of one of its service centers near Atlanta in an effort to grow capacity in the area, the company announced July 13.

XPO ranks No. 5 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.

The Norcross, Ga., service center employs more than 120 people. XPO expects to hire additional dockworkers and driver sales representatives with expansion now complete. The growth is part of a previously announced plan to increase capacity in North America.

“As part of our strategic plan, we’re adding new doors in markets that can use more capacity and sustain growth over time,” Chief Operating Officer Dave Bates. said. “The expansion of the Norcross service center in the growing metro Atlanta area will greatly benefit our customers as we’ll be able to serve their needs with additional flexibility and speed.

“It also allows us to strengthen our local presence with more well-paying career opportunities and expanded service to businesses across the region.”

XPO noted in the announcement that the expansion adds 46 doors to its network. The company hopes the growth will enable it to handle more freight and provide even better service to customers. XPO employs nearly 700 people across seven service centers in Georgia.
