Wright Express Adds Security to Fuel-Tax Reporting System

Wright Express said it has added new security features to its truck-tracking and telematics package intended to prevent abuse of corporate fuel cards and simplify fuel-tax reporting.

The new features are for Wright’s WexSmart system. With the latest additions, WexSmart can compare a truck’s location with the location where a driver last used a fuel card.

If position coordinates, time-stamps for trucks and fuel-card use don’t match, dispatchers will receive an alert and can investigate the potential abuse, Wright said.

Wright said it also enhanced the fuel-tax reporting and mileage-tracking components of the WexSmart system. The latest updates automatically log miles driven and gallons of fuel purchased on a state-by-state basis.

The feature is intended to help fleets simplify their fuel-tax reporting process by automatically creating a record of how much diesel the fleet buys and where it purchases the fuel.
