Wholesale Inventories Rise in June

Wholesale inventories rose 0.1% in June, while sales fell, the Commerce Department said Tuesday.

The increase followed a 0.5% increase in May, which was not revised.

Wholesale sales slipped 0.7%, the most since March 2009, after a 0.5% fall in May.

Economists had forecast inventories to rise 0.4%, Bloomberg reported.

Wholesale inventories account for about a fourth of total business stockpiles, while retailers and factories account for the rest.
